Jeff Linn is a bodywork practitioner, educator and meditation teacher located in Longmont Colorado.
Jeff has been a contemplative practitioner in a variety of disciplines since 1976, a bodywork practitioner since 1986, and a teacher of bodywork since 1989. His background is both broad and deep. He holds certification from the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego, the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, and the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration. He has been an instructor at massage and bodywork schools in San Diego, Denver, Montana, Hawaii and Boulder as well as co-teaching workshops at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. Along with a primary focus in the teaching and practice of structural integration (rolfing) Jeff has studied, practiced and taught Swedish massage, deep tissue bodywork, sensory repatterning, neuromuscular therapy, orthopedic assessment and remediation, muscle energy, and tai chi. He also holds certification as a Yoga and Meditation Instructor from the Integral Yoga Institute.
Jeff's approach to bodywork is informed by over 30 years of practice and study. Early on, he discovered the value of attention and receptivity. Rather than simply imposing a deep contact on the client, his approach is to "listen" with his hands as he works and allow the client's response to guide and shape the contact, the session and/or series as it unfolds. In a word, Jeff uses attention and receptivity to shape his intention. As a result, the client experiences their physical state changing from the inside, rather than being changed from the outside. This approach is intended to provide a sensory resource to enhance the client's internal sense of grace and ease. It is sensation and awareness that brings the change, not the forcing of tissue from the outside.
The influence of rolfing has permeated Jeff's work from the beginning of his studies. While this form of bodywork has a reputation for discomfort and even pain, Jeff believes in working slowly, allowing the client to adapt to the contact, thereby minimizing and in many cases eliminating discomfort.
